Risky ride
Chennai: A 19-year-old man was arrested for riding a two-wheeler at high speed and performing wheeling near the mall on Poonamallee High Road in Aminjikarai and posting videos of the stunts on social media, police said. Oon the night of Sept 23, Sam Daniel, son of Arockiasamy, rode a two-wheeler in a negligent manner and performed wheeling, placing other road users at risk, said police.
Police said action would be taken against people who rode vehicles at high speed or in a dangerous manner, including performing wheelies, when such acts endangered other road users or caused damage to public property. The activity was recorded and uploaded on social media, they added. The legal action was taken as part of intensified surveillance by the Chennai City Traffic Police to prevent dangerous driving and violations of road safety rules. The traffic police also appealed to motorists to follow road safety rules.
Anna Nagar Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case, traced the rider and arrested Sam Daniel on Sept 25. Two two-wheelers were seized from him. He was produced before a magistrate on Saturday and remanded in judicial custody.
