Chennai: A 32-year-old police computer operator was arrested for repeatedly harassing a woman constable after she rejected his advances in Tiruvallur. The constable managed to get away and reached the SP’s office, where she reported the incident.
Ramkumar was in love with a woman constable, who works as a receptionist at Podatturpet police station, according to police. The woman had made it clear that she was not interested in a relationship, but Ramkumar continued to pursue her, police said. Ramkumar followed her in a car and pressured her to accept his proposal, police said.
The accused, Ramkumar of Tiruttani, was a computer operator at Pallipattu police station. He secured the job on compassionate grounds following his father’s service in the police department. The incident escalated when the woman constable was travelling on a two-wheeler to attend a police personnel meeting at the district superintendent of police’s office. Following this, police registered a case and arrested Ramkumar.
