Couple killed as car rams them, daughter serious
Madurai: A panchayat secretary and his wife were killed, while their 16-year-old daughter was seriously injured when a car rammed into them as they stopped for a break near Natham in Dindigul district on Saturday night. The deceased were identified as Senthilvel, 55, secretary of Kottaiyur panchayat, and his wife Mathivathani, 45. They had stopped by the roadside when another car, driven by Sevugaperumal, 32, allegedly at high speed, lost control and hit them.
Police said the family was returning to Kottaiyur in their car after attending a function at a marriage hall on the Natham-Sendurai Road. Their daughter, Harini , is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Madurai.

Senthilvel and Mathivathani died on the spot, while Harini sustained multiple injuries. She was initially taken to Natham Govt Hospital and later shifted to Madurai for further treatment.
