Police said the incident was not motivated by religious reasons. Alangulam police, which examined CCTV footage, found that four youths, who were playing near the church premises, had vandalised the statue. Police subsequently arrested Ajay, Adaikalaraj, Abishek and Mike Tyson, all residents of Madhakovilpatti, and remanded them in judicial custody. Download the TOI App.
