Kalamassery Gang Rape: Brutally assaulted, survivor in critical condition, argues husband

Police on Monday had arrested two accused — Sreeraj, 30, of Karthikappally in Alappuzha and Jith Martin, 27, of Thevakkal in Ernakulam. When he persisted, she revealed the ordeal to him. The gang had seized her phone and while returning it, they threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone, he said.

The man told reporters that besides the four accused, more people had visited the room where the assault occurred. Meanwhile, police said efforts are on to trace the two accused and a probe is on to identify whether more people were involved. The survivor’s husband said his wife had gone to the lodge trusting that a female would be there but the woman too attacked her. She attended an interview and was told that she was selected. The accused then repeatedly sexually assaulted her, said the husband. He said Sreeraj, the spa owner, had coordinated with the survivor regarding the job. She told him that she had gone to a friend’s house and was in Edappally. The survivor was allowed to go after she broke a beer bottle and threatened to commit suicide, he said.

He demanded a detailed probe into the racket. Two other accused, including a woman, are on the run. The survivor met the gang after responding to an advertisement on an online platform regarding a job at spas in Kochi. They called her again in the evening and invited her to a party at the lodge. There she was made to consume substances, making her unconscious. the husband got her on the phone the next evening While he was returning from Munnar. On reaching home that night, he found her collapsed on the bed, with lights turned off. Her cheeks were swollen and there were injuries. She then showed him the chats and other details on her phone. The husband then informed the police and took her to the medical college hospital. All contacts that the survivor maintained with the gang for the job were available on her phone, he added. The husband alleged that other people had visited the lodge room the next afternoon.
