Kannur: Kannur women’s prison and correctional home authority allegedly seized MDMA weighing 0.30 grams from two inmates on Tuesday. Kannur Town police registered a case and booked Savio alias Sabira (33), a resident of Vadakara, and P K Rubaida (39), a native of Thalassery, in the incident. The police registered a case under section 86(1) of Kerala Prisons and Correction Service (Management) Act and section 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The drug was brought into the jail for consumption by inmates, according to the police. The jail officials detected the substance and handed it over to the police.
