Kochi: A forensic surgeon at Thrissur has indicated the possibility of the victims

Eight Tamil Nadu youths, most of them engineering students, were killed in the accident

Officials, meanwhile, are expecting reports of samples sent to the laboratory for detailed examination to confirm whether alcohol was used. There are also reports about the group being involved in an altercation with people at Pathamkallu in Thalikulam. They reportedly left the place in a hurry after residents informed the Vadanappally police about the confrontation.

A joint investigation by multiple departments is expected to take place on Tuesday.

The post said that a key finding from the forensic examination is that most of those who died in the accident had consumed alcohol. Kochi: A forensic surgeon at Thrissur has indicated the possibility of the victims in the Kaipamangalam accident being intoxicated. This is a very important fact in the investigation into the accident. Alcohol consumption can affect a driver’s judgement, attention, reaction time, coordination and perception of speed and distance, significantly increasing the risk of an accident. However, it is important to remember that it cannot be concluded that the mere presence of alcohol in the blood alone was the cause of the accident. He, however, added that the failure to take adequate safety precautions in the road construction area, along with the unsafe parking of a heavy vehicle on the roadside, may have contributed to increasing the risk of the accident.

Such lapses must be investigated seriously, he said in the post made on Sunday.
