Activist seeks action on derogatory remarks against Sabarimala deities

A bench of Justice Jobin Sebastian directed that notice be issued to the actor in the petition and adjourned the matter to Oct 22. In her complaint to the Ernakulam Central police station against Easwar, the actor alleged that after Chemmanur’s arrest, Easwar orchestrated a cyber campaign to discredit her sexual harassment complaint and influence public opinion against her.

The actor had earlier accused businessman Boby Chemmanur of making sexually coloured remarks against her on social media, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Kochi : Activist Rahul K Easwar has approached the high court seeking to quash a 2025 cyber harassment case registered against him on a complaint filed by a Malayalam film actor. Accordingly, the police registered a case against him under Section 79 of the BNS (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and Section 67 of the IT Act (publishing or transmitting obscene materials in electronic form). Easwar filed the petition seeking to quash the FIR on various grounds, including inordinate delay in the investigation. It was also contended that the complaint does not satisfy the ingredients of the offences alleged.
