Kochi : Ernakulam rural cyberpolice have filed a chargesheet against controversial YouTuber Mohammad Nihad alias Thoppi in a case linked to alleged online publication of obscene content.

The police case was that Nihad had shared nude images of some of his former friends on social media following a fallout with them. The police approached YouTube and secured the takedown of the channel concerned as part of the probe. Nihad eventually secured anticipatory bail in the case. Kochi city police had initially conducted preliminary inquiries into the complaint but found that the alleged offences did not fall within their territorial jurisdiction. Ernakulam Rural Police registered the case on the grounds that the alleged streaming of obscene content occurred from Varapuzha, where the accused was residing. Download the TOI App.
The case was registered on June 20, 2026, under various provisions of the IT Act and other relevant laws for allegedly publishing obscene material through online platforms.
