The arrested men have been identified as Wahidul Islam, 30, and Nizamuddin , 24, both natives of Nagaon in Assam . Kochi: Ernakulam rural police arrested two individuals after 36g of heroin was seized from them in Aluva on Friday.
The arrested man has been identified as Muhammad Azad, 45, of Muttar, who was residing in a rented house at Pazhanganaad in Kizhakkambalam. On May 19, Aluva Police had arrested three natives of West Bengal and a Keralite after seizing 25kg of ganja from Thottakkattukara.
The two had planned to sell the drug and return to Assam on the same day, according to the police. They were arrested jointly by a special investigation team of rural district police chief and Aluva Police. The two were taken into custody at Chalakka while they were travelling in an autorickshaw to Perumbavoor after arriving in Aluva by train from Assam. The heroin was concealed inside three soap-box containers kept in their bag. The police are continuing their investigation to identify and trace the people who had been purchasing narcotic substances from the men. Perumbavoor ASP Hardik Meena, Aluva DSP Baiju Paulose, circle inspector P M Shameer, sub-inspector Ranjith Mathew, assistant sub-inspectors K A Noushad, P A Abdul Manaf, Sreeja and Seena, and senior civil police officers T A Afsal, Shihab, Robin Joy and Nizamuddin were part of the investigation team. The ganja was allegedly being brought from Odisha by train to Angamaly. It was then being transported from Angamaly in an autorickshaw for sale at various locations in Perumbavoor and Ernakulam areas.
The accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. 25Kg ganja seizure case, one more held: Aluva Police arrested one more person on Friday in connection with the seizure of 25kg of ganja.
