Kochi : Just days after an enforcement team of the motor vehicles department (MVD) cautioned a two-wheeler rider, tragedy struck as he was killed in an accident in Maradu.
Stopping a vehicle on the road is not merely about identifying a violation, according to MVD officials. Officers said the incident gives society a moment to seriously reflect on the consequences of dangerous driving. Sometimes it is a warning to the driver and a chance to correct course. When enforcement officers stop a vehicle, drivers often see only a challan and legal action. But behind it lies a responsibility to prevent accidents and stop repeat violations. Overconfidence in one’s ability and a few seconds of thrill can lead to major disasters. Especially when officers signal a vehicle to stop, trying to flee multiplies the risk many times over, they warned.
The duo attempted to reach him via the registered mobile number without success. After further inquiry, the officers traced his current address, summoned him to the Ernakulam RTO enforcement office, and provided counselling. They explained the consequences of reckless riding and the need to protect other road users, instructed him to attend a road-safety class, and initiated legal challan proceedings against the vehicle.
When they visited the registered address, they learned that the rider and his family had moved months earlier.
