Kochi : Palarivattom Police has registered a case against six Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly staying in the city without valid passports, visas or other documents authorising their stay.

Those booked are Ibrahim Howlader, 29, Sakeer Khan, 50, Arif Howlader, 29, Unus Khan, 41, Joshana Begum, 30, and Hadiullah Khan, 31, all from Morrelganj in Bagerhat district, Bangladesh. Police said they were arrested during an inspection based on intelligence inputs. The accused were found living in a rented house in Palarivattom along with two children, aged nine and two-and-a-half years. They were allegedly working as daily-wage labourers and had been staying in Kochi for about a year. The investigation is under way to determine how they entered India and whether anyone facilitated their stay. Download the TOI App.
