Kochi: Two people were killed and three others injured when a car collided with a truck in Malappuram around 3am on Sunday.
Haris, 27, and Jamsheer, 31, both from Malappuram, were killed in the accident at Edimuzhikkal on Kozhikode-Thrissur national highway. Though all five were rushed to a hospital, two were declared brought dead, police said. The truck, which came from Kannur side, collided with the car, in which five friends were travelling from Kozhikode. The truck, reportedly carrying stones, entered the highway and took a sudden U-turn when it collided with the car approaching from the opposite direction. Locals had to cut open the car to rescue the passengers trapped inside. The injured were shifted to Kozhikode medical college hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Thenhipalam police reached the spot and initiated further proceedings. Prajeesh of Uppada was killed while returning home from Guruvayoor, where he works.
