Madurai : Madras high court directed the authorities to pass speaking orders on the objections raised while finalising the list of agamic and non-agamic temples in the state. The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by Periyanambi Narasimha Gopalan of Tirunelveli district. Hence, the petitioner moved court seeking a direction to the authorities to reconstitute the agama committee by including qualified agama experts in saiva agamas and vaishnava agamas, scholars and archakas possessing expertise in the relevant agamas. During the course of hearing, the state submitted that what has been published is only the draft list. The very purpose of publishing the draft list is to invite objections. Now objections have come and the same would be considered and orders would be passed. Agamic experts would also be consulted wherever required.
