Madras high court on Wednesday directed the authorities to ensure that the names are mentioned in the stone inscription installed for the consecration ceremony.
Justice C Saravanan passed the order after considering the fact that the invitation was already printed and that rituals for the consecration ceremony are to commence on Sept 6. During the course of hearing, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that the invitations now being circulated impede the power of the duly appointed trustees under Sect 47 of HR & CE Act.
During earlier consecration ceremonies, the names of trustees were printed, he said. The court passed the order while disposing of the petition filed by D Subbulakshmi, member of board of trustees of the temple. She sought a direction to the authorities to permit the members of the board to participate and discharge statutory duties in the upcoming consecration ceremony. Though they have approved a format for the invitation, the trustees’ names have been omitted and substituted with the names of office bearers of temple administration.
