Madurai: Expelled BJP state general secretary Karuppu M Muruganantham moved Madras high court seeking anticipatory bail in the sexual harassment case filed against him by a woman functionary.
A woman BJP functionary submitted a complaint accusing Muruganantham of sexual exploitation, harassment, repeated threats, and circulating her private images and videos on social media, according to the prosecution. The court was hearing the anticipatory bail petition filed by Muruganantham, who apprehends arrest in a case registered against him by the Srirangam all-women police in Trichy district. Based on her complaint, police had registered a case. Following the complaint, Muruganantham was removed from his post in the party. In his petition, Muruganantham stated that he is innocent and has not committed any offence as alleged in the FIR. The woman had lodged a false complaint to damage his reputation. Hence, he sought anticipatory bail.
