Madurai police arrest AIADMK functionary P M Mannan
MADURAI: The Madurai City Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Friday arrested AIADMK functionary P M Mannan in connection with an alleged offer of Rs 15 crore to TVK MLA VMS Mustafa to vote against the government in a no-confidence motion. Mustafa, who represents the Madurai Central constituency, had alleged that he was offered up to Rs 15 crore to support a no-confidence motion against the government if one was moved in the assembly. He had also claimed to possess audio recordings of phone conversations purportedly linked to the alleged deal. Following an initial probe, police arrested P M Mannan and are continuing their investigation into the allegations. As part of the investigation, police also questioned Kani, an aide to Mustafa, to gather details about the alleged phone conversations, audio evidence and the individuals purportedly involved in the episode.
Based on a complaint lodged by the MLA, the Madurai City CCB registered a case and launched an investigation.
