Rahul Mamkootathil
Mamkootathil said he didn’t run the Congress unit in Adoor, but it is managed by the local MLA and KPCC, DCC and block-level functionaries, while law and order is overseen by the police. Rahul said he would stand by his colleagues and he had carried the party’s flag. Responding to Vijayan’s remark that his own history needn’t be recounted, he cautioned the opposition leader against provoking a situation in which Vijayan’s history and his “kitchen cabinet” are aired.
Kottayam: Political tensions continued in Adoor after Saturday night’s clash involving KSU, Youth Congress and DYFI workers, with CPM announcing a march to Adoor police station and Congress functionaries trading charges with CPM on social media. CPM alleged that police acted in a one-sided manner during the clash. Police security continues in several areas, and with both sides exchanging threats online, the situation is proving difficult for the police to manage. Former MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, in a Facebook post, responded to leader of the opposition Pinarayi Vijayan ’s remarks in the assembly. He questioned DYFI and SFI protests over allegations that money was taken from Vijayan’s daughter Veena T, asking what her connection with CPM was and why workers had faced violence and police action.
The march is scheduled for 10am on Thursday.
He alleged that Vijayan and his family should be concerned about securing bail in a case in which they are allegedly involved.
