KASARAGOD: A 65-year-old woman died allegedly by suicide after setting herself on fire at her house at Manjeshwar in Kasaragod on Wednesday.
Manjeshwar police said the deceased woman’s nephew told the investigation team that Savithri was distressed after the television at the house was sent for repair. “The investigation is under way and the reason behind the death can be revealed only after a detailed probe,” said a police officer. Her son found her charred body when he woke up the next morning. The elederly woman had reportedly poured kerosene on her body and set herself on fire.
Savithri had gone to bed after dinner as usual on Tuesday night, police said.
The probe team has not yet confirmed the exact reason for the death. Police registered a case of unnatural death and began an investigation.
