Kochi: Ernakulam Central Police have registered two separate cases against a private firm and three persons for allegedly cheating two men from Munambam of Rs 4.3 lakh by promising them jobs in Netherlands and Luxembourg.

One complainant alleged that Rs 2.3 lakh was collected from him in three instalments between June 4 and Aug 5, 2025, according to the police. The FIR in the case has invoked Sections 318(4) (cheating) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Further investigation is under way to ascertain the full details of the alleged fraud and the role of the accused, according to the police. The latest case was registered in Perumbavoor in July after he allegedly entered an unoccupied house with the intention of committing theft and attempted to sexually assault a woman who arrived at the house, according to the police. The police named Sheeba Raphel, Raakz Agencies and Sahila Shamsudheen as accused in both cases. The accused, Ebin Tomy of Chirappadi, Iramalloor, was lodged at Viyyur Central Jail following a report submitted by Ernakulam Rural district police chief K S Sudarshan. Tomy is involved in several cases registered at Kothamangalam, Perumbavoor, Vazhakulam, Kodanad, Alappuzha North and Poovar police stations. The cases include attempt to murder, robbery, kidnapping, theft and offences against women.

The detention order was issued by district collector Priyanka G on Wednesday.
