Organizers must apply via the official FSSAI portal and pay ₹100 registration fee to obtain a valid food safety registration certificate prior to distribution.
Failure to secure the required authorization will invite strict legal action, an official statement said. This is to ensure that all annadhanam services, prasadam, drinks, and snacks provided during the event are safe, unadulterated, and served under hygienic conditions. Food handlers must strictly avoid use of artificial food colorings and synthetic dyes in preparations, including free beverages like buttermilk, sherbet, and drinking water. Only high-quality, non-expired raw ingredients can be used, and manufacture and expiration dates have to be checked prior to food preparation. Suppliers have to maintain clean conditions at preparation sites and ensure proper waste disposal at dedicated dustbins. To ensure full compliance, the department has made online registration mandatory for anyone intending to serve food, drinks, or prasadam during the festival. Polythene bags, plastic cups, and non-biodegradable packaging materials are banned at all food distribution points. Distributors must switch to eco-friendly alternatives such as traditional banana leaves and palm plates. Temporary stalls selling soft drinks, eateries, and free water stations set up around the temple zone will also fall under direct supervision of food safety inspectors.
