Periyar Arivulagam
In the complaint, DMK legal wing joint secretary and MLA I Paranthaman said the issue came to light following writer Perumal Murugan’s interview, in which he flagged several fake and AI-generated books found in the newly inaugurated library. Referring to school education minister A Rajmohan’s press conference earlier in the day, the MLA said several questions, including which officials issued the procurement and purchase orders, when the books were purchased and when they were delivered, remained unanswered. “We have raised similar questions in our complaint to the DVAC,” he said, questioning whether authors named Trisha Vijay, Sangeetha Vijay and Thamarai Panneer actually existed. Paranthaman told reporters at the party headquarters that they had spoken to members of the book recommendation committee, who were unaware of how such books had found their way into Periyar Arivulagam. “We suspect that some Vijay fans are behind this,” he said, questioning why the DMK would purchase books carrying an author’s name such as “Trisha Vijay”. He termed it “shameful politics”, accusing the ruling party of focusing on framing the opposition instead of addressing people’s issues, including inflation. I could not find it anywhere,” he said. Leader of the opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin told reporters that DMK was ready to face the case legally. “I am 100% confident that no such irregularity took place during our govt,” he said.
Subsequently, several social media users and members of the public raised questions over the purchases and shared details of AI-generated books allegedly supplied in large numbers by Akalvilakku and Phoenix publications. He hit out at the C Joseph Vijay-led TVK govt for not issuing an official statement on the issue while allowing its IT wing to circulate what he termed fake and fabricated documents to build a false narrative against DMK. Paranthaman criticised Rajmohan for using unparliamentary language during the press conference in the presence of women officials. “If the minister or his department has filed a complaint with the DVAC, where is the copy?
