Coimbatore: As many as 22 temple volunteers from Tirunelveli district escaped with minor injuries after a tourist bus they were travelling in overturned at a hairpin bend near Palamalai Aranganathar Swamy Temple in Periyanaickenpalayam on Sunday. “The vehicle was negotiating the third hairpin bend when its brakes reportedly failed and the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned,” said a police officer. The group, from Palayamkottai, had arrived at the hill temple three days ago to take part in ‘uzhavarapani’, a voluntary temple-cleaning and service activity. The injured were rushed to a private hospital in Periyanaickenpalayam, where they were admitted with minor injuries. Police are investigating further. Download the TOI App.

After completing the work, they set out for their hometown in the bus on Sunday.
