Thrissur : Thrissur has secured the highest rank among Keralam cities in the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index (OEGCI) 2026. With an overall rank of 477, Thrissur has also performed better than several other Indian cities, including Kolkata, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Surat. However, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad have secured higher ranks.
The global cities index evaluates 1,000 cities across the world based on five key dimensions: Economics, human capital, quality of life, environment and governance, according to the organisation’s website. Thrissur’s performance across the five variables includes a rank of 334 in economics, 611 in human capital, 584 in quality of life, 468 in environment and 415 in governance. Kochi has secured ranks of 404 in economics, 419 in human capital, 701 in quality of life, 607 in environment and 415 in governance. Kozhikode has ranked 407 in economics, 456 in human capital, 710 in quality of life, 570 in environment and 415 in governance.
