Two elderly men killed in clash over temple access in Tirunelveli
Police identified the deceased as Dalton, 71, and his brother Nicolas Rajarathinam, 75. Senthil, 43, of Manipuram went to the temple with his wife around 9.30am, according to police. An argument broke out between Senthil and Narendran, 28, son of Dalton, allegedly over an issue concerning access to the temple.
The argument soon escalated into a physical altercation, during which Senthil allegedly attacked Dalton and Nicolas, police said. Dalton sustained serious injuries and died while being taken to Tirunelveli Govt Medical College Hospital. Nicolas, who was admitted to a private hospital, later succumbed to his injuries. Narendran suffered a minor injury on his left arm. Senthil, who was also injured in the clash, was admitted to the hospital and is undergoing treatment under police watch.
Junction police registered a case and launched an investigation.
