Woman killed by speeding bike
In the first incident, Muniyammal, 64, of Melapudi Colony near Pallipattu, was crossing Pallipattu Road near Vanivilasapuram Colony on Saturday morning when a speeding bike heading from Podaturpet towards Pallipattu knocked her down. In another incident, Sathishkumar, 39, of Railway Station Road in Vandalur, was killed after a truck hit his motorcycle on Vandalur-Walajabad Road. The truck driver, Minal, 34, from Assam, was arrested.
She was on her way to work. Tambaram traffic investigation police sent his body to Tambaram Govt Hospital for postmortem. Police said he was riding along Bhajanai Koil Street early on Saturday when the truck hit him, killing him on the spot.
She was initially taken to Podaturpet Govt Hospital and later shifted to Tiruttani District Govt Hospital, where she died without responding to treatment. Podaturpet police registered a case and are investigating.
