Hyderabad: A woman allegedly died by suicide following a family dispute in Hyderabad, and her 19-year-old son, unable to cope with the news, also died by suicide in Medak district shortly afterwards. The woman, Bethamma (45), a native of Maktha Lakshmapur village in Peddashankarampet mandal, had migrated to Hyderabad with her husband several years ago in search of work, according to police. Their son Praveen stayed back in the village and continued his education.
Police said Bethamma and her husband had frequent disagreements. Bethamma, who was distressed following the dispute, died by suicide at the house. After news of her death reached Maktha Lakshmapur, Praveen was reportedly devastated. Later, he also died by suicide on the outskirts of Kolapally village. The deaths of the mother-son duo within a short span left relatives and residents of Maktha Lakshmapur in shock. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
On Friday night, the couple reportedly had a heated argument at their residence in Suraram.
