Speaking at a historical photo exhibition organised at Secunderabad Parade Grounds on the eve of Hyderabad Liberation Day, he said while India became independent on Aug 15, 1947, Hyderabad State attained freedom on Sept 17, 1948.
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s resolve and decisive action ensured Hyderabad state became part of the Indian Union.
Rao said the Nizam had refused to accede to the Indian Union, but Patel’s Operation Polo forced him to surrender and paved the way for Hyderabad’s integration. He said the exhibition showcased historic events and helped students understand the sacrifices made during the struggle against Nizam’s rule. Rao said freedom fighters including Komaram Bheem, Ramji Gond, Vande Mataram Ramachandra Rao and former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao had fought against the Nizam’s rule. Children should learn and sing the national song with pride,” Ramchander Rao said, adding that future generations must learn about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.
