Hyderabad: Hyderabad police’s SHE Teams apprehended 1,530 people for eve-teasing and other objectionable activities during pre-immersion Ganesh festivities held from Sept 14 to 23, police said. Of those apprehended, 724 were counselled, warned and released after verification, while 48 were convicted. SHE Teams deployed at major Ganesh pandals, crowded places and immersion routes took preventive action, with a special focus on the Khairatabad and Balapur celebrations. Police also monitored social media platforms and registered four cases after identifying videos of dangerous activities during immersion processions. These included a person hanging and swinging beneath a moving truck, another dancing on top of a vehicle while balancing a glass on his head, and minor children dancing on the edge of a moving vehicle. In the fourth case, a person was booked for dangerous two-wheeler riding while his pillion rider, dressed in a large gorilla costume, interacted with people on the road.
