22yo woman beaten to death in Amroha, grandmother-in-law on the run
Bijnor : A 22-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death with an iron pestle by her grandmother-in-law (72) following a domestic dispute in Bukhari Pur village under Adampur police station limits in Amroha district on Friday. Additional SP Akhilesh Bhadauria said police received information about the woman’s suspicious death through Dial 112.
The accused, Kranti Devi, fled after the incident, police said. Police said an argument between Payal and Kranti Devi, wife of Umrao Giri, escalated into violence. A team reached the spot and found Payal’s body in a pool of blood, with head injuries. No other family member was present at the time. A forensic team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence. Police recovered the suspected weapon outside the house, while CCTV footage reportedly showed Kranti placing the iron pestle near the doorway before fleeing.
A case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered on a complaint filed by the family. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
