Varanasi: A 25-year-old man, Sonu Yadav, was beaten by to death by his neighbours at Semari village under Nagra police station of Ballia district on Sunday while he was repairing a cable on an electric pole damaged by heavy rain and strong wind.
Ballia CO Rasra Rajnish Kumar said around 11.30am on Sunday, when Sonu was restoring power supply to his house after the heavy rain and strong wind damaged the overhead wires at an electric pole, his relative Shailendra Yadav and hsi family members objected and attacked him with bamboo sticks. Police sent the body for postmortem and lodged a case on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, simple hurt, intentional insult, and joint criminal liability against Shailendra Yadav (33), Sumer Yadav (56), Hareram Yadav (47), and Rajkumar Yadav (18). Seriously injured Sonu was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
Police arrested four accused, who had absconded after the incident, on Monday. All these accused were arrested on Monday, said the CO, adding that police also recovered four bamboo sticks from bushes near Deeh Baba temple on Sonadi Road, which were used in the attack.
