Varanasi: A special Pocso court in Ballia has sentenced a man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for circulating an obscene AI-generated photograph of a Class VIII girl student on WhatsApp . The court also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on him, with additional imprisonment in case of non-payment.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint at Bhimpura police station on May 7, 2025. On Tuesday, Special Pocso Judge Prathamkant found Sanjeet Kumar guilty under Section 6 of the Pocso Act and sentenced him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment. The convict, Sanjeet Kumar, a resident of Devalveer village in Ballia, worked as contractual school bus driver, according to the prosecution. The minor girl used the same vehicle to travel to and from school. The accused had circulated the photographs of other students as well. Police registered an FIR under the Pocso Act and other sections and later filed a chargesheet in court after probe. Download the TOI App.
