Lucknow: Lucknow University (LU) has included three students from Bangladesh in its Meritorious Students Council for the 2026-27 academic session, giving international students representation in the university’s student body.
The three representatives are MD Arifur Rahman, pursuing BTech at the new campus, Debojit Roy Nibir, pursuing BA under NEP at the old campus, and Jack Ha Jong, pursuing MA in Journalism and Mass Communication at the old campus. LU vice-chancellor Prof JP Saini said, “The inclusion of foreign students in the Meritorious Students Council reflects our commitment to building an inclusive and diverse academic environment. Students from different countries bring varied perspectives, experiences and ideas. Their participation will encourage cultural exchange and help international students feel more connected to the university. We want them to actively contribute to campus life and the university’s growth.”
Their inclusion is expected to provide foreign students with a platform to share their concerns, participate in academic discussions and contribute to student-related activities. The Meritorious Students Council provides academically outstanding students an opportunity to engage with the university administration and participate in initiatives related to student welfare and academic development.
