A 60-year-old man sustained critical injuries after being attacked by his neighbour with a sharp weapon during what is believed to be a theft attempt at his home. The incident occurred on Friday night in Sikandarpur Sarosi village, located within the Kotwali area of Kanpur. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The victim, Naresh Kumar Jaiswal, who lives alone, alleged that his neighbour, Shahban, attacked him and fled with nearly Rs 60,000 from the house, according to police. Jaiswal told police that Shahban had allegedly entered his house in his absence. Kotwali inspector C K Mishra said efforts were on to trace and arrest the accused. When he returned home, the accused allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and shifted Jaiswal to the district hospital around 11pm.
