Prayagraj: A 32-year-old labourer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a water-filled pit at Badhawa Rajbhar village within the limits of Manjhanpur police station in Kaushambi district early Sunday. The deceased, identified as Raju Saroj, was a resident of Karari.
Police said there were no injury marks on the body of the deceased. The autopsy report would clarify the exact cause of death, said police. Upon being alerted, senior police officials, including DSP (Manjhanpur) Saurabh Samant, along with forces and forensic experts, rushed to the spot and carried out investigations. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
The belongings of the deceased, including a mobile phone and cash, were also recovered near the body. Family members of the deceased told police that the victim, an epilepsy patient, had left the house on Saturday morning in search of work and that they found his body near the village the next morning.
