Gorakhpur : A 35-year-old man died after a Chinese kite string slit nearly half his neck while he was riding his two-wheeler to work in Gorakhpur on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place near the Hawart embankment in the Ilahibagh area under Tiwaripur police station limits around 1 pm.

CO (Kotwali) Omkar Dutt Tiwari said an investigation into the incident was underway. Ramesh Kannaujia, a resident of Suryakund, worked at a cosmetics shop. He was on his way to the shop, where he had been working for a long time, when his neck got entangled in the sharp kite string, leaving him critically injured. Passers-by, with the help of police, rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
