Shalu Minocha
Minocha, who lived in a ground-floor apartment in Ratan Orbit Apartment, was killed on the night of September 5. He said the investigating officer had been notified and appealed to Kanpur police to carry out a careful and unbiased inquiry so that no innocent person would be framed.
Kanpur: Shivakant Dixit, the lawyer representing Shalu Minocha, has raised doubts about the police probe into the killing of medicine businessman Vineet Minocha after a mobile phone said to belong to the accused daughter-in-law, Shalu, was reportedly found to be active. DCP (West) Kasim Abidi said the police had taken only one of Shalu’s phones. He added that if the phone had been in police possession, a seizure record should have been prepared. Dixit further claimed that if the device was with someone else, its chats and videos could be viewed and there could be attempts to create a false narrative. If she possessed another device, that too would be confiscated and sent for forensic testing. He added that the phone might be at her residence and possibly being used by a family member. Shalu is alleged to have plotted the murder.
In a video shared on Saturday, Dixit stated that Shalu’s phone remained switched on until Saturday afternoon, which he said could influence the investigation. On Monday, police sent Shalu, former domestic worker Vishal Gautam and his associate Rajkishore to jail.
