Kanpur: Vishwa Hindu Parishad international vice-president Champat Rai on Wednesday said Ashok Singhal had dedicated his life to advancing Indian culture, organising Hindu society and furthering the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Addressing a programme to mark Ashok Singhal’s birth centenary year at BNSD Shiksha Niketan in Benajhabar, Rai said that Singhal made the movement his life’s mission and worked continuously for it. He said Singhal possessed spiritual energy, organisational ability and remarkable self-confidence, and devoted his full strength to every task he undertook. During the difficult period of terrorism in Punjab, Singhal took out a yatra from Haridwar to maintain society’s morale, Rai said. Despite the challenging circumstances, he sought to organise society and instil self-confidence, believing that during crises it should advance through organisation and confidence rather than fear, he said. On Singhal’s efforts towards social harmony, Rai said that he had brought Dom Raja on stage at Dharma Sansad in Kashi to convey a message of unity.
Rai, the chief speaker at the event, recounted several incidents from Singhal’s life.
