The accused, Vishal Chaudhary , a resident of Aligarh’s Naurangabad, approached the child, lay down near her and allegedly molested her, according to GRP. Jitendra Kumar Dwivedi, in-charge of GRP Aligarh, told TOI : “The accused was arrested by the GRP team on the moving train and was brought to Aligarh GRP station. Alert passengers rushed to the child’s rescue, caught the accused when he allegedly tried to escape and handed him over to the Govt Railway Police (GRP). The girl was travelling from Azamgarh to Aligarh with her family. The girl woke up and resisted before raising an alarm. Her cries alerted fellow passengers, who helped her. The accused allegedly attempted to flee but was caught by passengers and subsequently handed over to GRP. He has been sent to jail. The mother of the minor filed a police complaint. Following the complaint, GRP registered a case against the accused under the Pocso Act and BNS section 74 (crime of assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty).
