Agra: Over 100 VHP and Bajrang Dal members protested at Jaggahedi toll plaza in Muzaffarnagar

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Agra: Over 100 VHP and Bajrang Dal members protested at Jaggahedi toll plaza in Muzaffarnagar on Friday evening following a dispute with toll employees over free passage for buses. Police later registered an FIR against three people on a VHP functionary’s complaint.

Titavi police registered an FIR against Gaurav, his associate Billu and an unidentified person under BNS Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(3) (criminal intimidation involving threat of death or grievous hurt) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace).

Toll plaza officials said the group sought free passage, leading to an argument with toll manager Gaurav. When they returned in the evening, they created a ruckus and forced the toll plaza to remain free for several hours, causing financial losses,” he said. The buses were carrying members to a VHP programme at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Keshavpuri. The buses were subsequently allowed through. The members returned in the evening, held a sit-in and raised slogans, briefly affecting traffic. Police, led by area DSP Narendra Yadav, brought the situation under control. Complainant Aryan Chaudhary alleged that toll employees misbehaved with members of the group and later abused and threatened him when he raised the matter. He claimed Gaurav called other employees, some of whom were armed, and threatened to shoot the protesters. Toll plaza deputy manager Shubham Malik denied the allegations and accused the protesters of disrupting toll collection. “All the buses were allowed to pass in the morning.
