Their effective use is essential to ensuring fair investigations, protecting innocent individuals and securing convictions against offenders, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna said at TechSangam-2026 on Saturday. Praising the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Krishna said the institute had trained more than 5,000 officers, personnel and students, including over 600 crime scene management experts.

He said developments in these fields directly affect law enforcement, criminal investigations and cybersecurity. Highlighting the growing role of AI in policing, the DGP said advanced technologies could help investigators identify crucial leads and analyse large volumes of data more efficiently. Tackling such threats required quick verification, timely communication and the dissemination of credible information, he said. DNA analysis, fingerprint examination, biological and physical evidence, CCTV footage and digital records were playing a crucial role in ensuring impartial investigations and delivering justice, he said.

Lucknow : Artificial intelligence (AI), cyber forensics and scientific evidence are becoming critical aspects of modern policing. Addressing the conference, Krishna described the event as an important platform for collaboration among experts in artificial intelligence, cyber forensics, quantum technology, data protection and legal compliance. At the same time, he cautioned that emerging threats, such as deepfakes and manipulated digital content, were creating new challenges for police agencies. Krishna noted that old videos were often circulated as recent incidents, while doctored content could be used to spread misinformation and mislead the public. The DGP also underlined the increasing importance of scientific evidence following the implementation of the new criminal laws. He reaffirmed the UP Police’s commitment to leveraging modern technology and scientific evidence to strengthen investigations and enhance public confidence in the justice system.
