Bijnor: A 15-year-old boy died of burn injuries at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Friday, 12 days after an explosion at the remains of a firecracker manufacturing unit in Bijnor district. His 12-year-old brother had earlier died of injuries sustained in the same blast.
Rohit (15) and Rohan (12), residents of Sherkot, were crossing the area near a closed brick kiln in Wazidpur village when the explosion occurred on Sept 20, leaving them severely burnt. Police registered two cases under various BNS sections, including 105 (culpable homicide), 106 (death by negligence) and 125 (endangering life or safety of others), based on complaints lodged by the boys’ father, a farmer. The first FIR, registered on Sept 20, named five people and mentioned eight to 10 unidentified accused. A second FIR was registered on Sept 26 against three named and one unidentified accused.
