Bijnor : A 60-year-old watchman was found dead atop a water tank in Bijnor’s Sarai Habib Syau village on Tuesday morning, with his family suspecting foul play and seeking an investigation.
Family members raised suspicion over the circumstances of his death and submitted a complaint to police seeking an investigation. Police reached the spot and inspected the area where the body was found.
His family said he would usually return home for meals and prayers before going back on duty. Chandpur SHO Rahul Singh said, “The body had been sent for postmortem and the cause of death would be known after the report. Shamsher Ali had been employed for several years to operate and guard the water tank and tubewell. Ali returned to the water tank late Monday night after dinner. The next morning, villagers out for a walk spotted him lying on top of the tank and informed his family after finding him dead. We are also registering a case against unidentified persons on the basis of the complaint filed by Ali’s family.”
