Bijnor: As of Wednesday, floodwaters in the Ganga khadar area have begun to recede. However, several villages continue to face isolation due to submerged roads. The Hastinapur Jalilpur-Thakurdwara state highway has been closed for six consecutive days, severely disrupting local movement. Affected areas include Dattiyana, Sujatpur Khadar, Kumariya, Muzaffarpur Khadar, Siyali, Jamaluddinpur Ka Kheda, Jalalpur Khadar, Raipur Khadar, and Mirapur Sikri, where waterlogging on connecting roads is prevalent.
Impact of Waterlogged Conditions on Education and Livestock
Recent waterlogged conditions have severely disrupted educational access in affected villages, preventing school vehicles from reaching students. Consequently, hundreds of children were unable to attend classes, and those who usually travel outside their villages for coaching also remained home. Livestock owners are facing challenges in securing fodder, as fields and access roads remain inundated. This situation compounds the difficulties for families already experiencing restricted movement due to the adverse weather conditions.
Travel on the state highway remained risky even as water levels receded, with residents creating a temporary makeshift bridge across a damaged portion of the road and some bikers attempting to cross the affected stretch. Daily commuters parked their cars at one end and used tractors and trolleys to cross the waterlogged section before continuing their journeys.
