BJP OBC Morcha leader stabbed to death in Bareilly on night of Rakshabandhan

A BJP leader, Sachin Kashyap (R) was allegedly stabbed to death in Bareilly on Raksha Bandhan night

BAREILLY: A BJP leader was allegedly stabbed to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district on the night of Raksha Bandhan, police said. Sachin Kashyap, vice-president of the BJP’s Madheenath Mandal OBC Morcha, was attacked near Manjhe Wali Bagiya in the Madheenath area under Subhash Nagar police station, according to police. Police said Kashyap had earlier been involved in a dispute over money with some people. Police investigation Circle Officer Nitin Kumar said the suspects had been identified and that several police teams had been formed to arrest them.

The two sides had allegedly clashed about a month ago, following which local residents and acquaintances intervened and brokered a settlement. Police reached the spot after being alerted and sent the body for a postmortem examination.

For Kashyap’s family, the festival turned into a day of mourning, with the celebrations giving way to grief after news of his death emerged.
