Gorakhpur : Four persons, including an elderly couple and a gas agency delivery worker, suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out while a domestic LPG cylinder was being checked at a house in Raptinagar Phase-I on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 11am at LIG-156, where 75-year-old Ranjan Das lived with his wife Jaya Das (70). Das had called Indresh (40), a gas agency delivery worker, to check a problem with their LPG cylinder. Ranjan, his wife Jaya and one Dashawati Devi (65), a resident of Harsewakpur who was at the house, sustained burn injuries.
Indresh was checking the cylinder when he lit a lighter to check for a gas leak, according to preliminary information. Three of the injured were admitted to Nehru Hospital at BRD Medical College, while the delivery worker was taken to a private hospital. Shahpur police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. The accumulated gas inside the room caught fire, leaving those present with little time to escape.
