Prayagraj : Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday inspected the construction work of a 10-km-long, six-lane bridge being built over Ganga, stretching from Malak Harhar to Beli Chauraha in the city.
During the inspection, the Deputy CM instructed the construction agency and officials to complete the project by Dec 25 (the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ). The project is being built at a cost of approximately Rs 1,947 crore. If the work gets delayed due to some technical constraints, then efforts will be made to open the bridge for the public by Jan 2027.

Once operational, this six-lane Ganga bridge will help relieve Sangam city from severe traffic congestion and significantly improve connectivity for future fairs (melas) and routine travel. Maurya also reviewed the progress of Inner Ring Road project in Prayagraj and issued directives to accelerate the work to ensure its timely completion. The construction of the six-lane bridge will provide Prayagraj with a new identity and unlock fresh development opportunities. Besides, it will also offer greater convenience to pilgrims visiting Magh Mela. Notably, this six-lane bridge—currently under construction over Ganga River at Phaphamau—will connect the city’s Stanley Road to the Malak Harhar area on the other side of the river.
