Diwali Mela organised by Women’s Association of IIT Kanpur begins at IIT campus
Around 10 association members are participating. The mela features traditional crafts, clothing, jewellery, home décor, handmade goods and eco-friendly festive products. It provides artisans and entrepreneurs a platform to display their products and connect with buyers from the campus community. Sustainable offerings include cow-dung decorations, eco-friendly gifts, handmade diyas, candles, candle holders, multipurpose holders, bandhanwars, Shubh-Labh decorations and customised wedding décor. Clothing stalls offer designer suits, linen and modal fabrics, machine-silk garments, co-ord sets and Kanjivaram collections spanning ethnic and contemporary styles. Jewellery collections from Bengaluru and Hyderabad include real and semi-precious stones, statement pieces, brass-based designs and copper accessories, alongside products from home-grown labels. Food and refreshments are also available. The event seeks to bring the campus community together for Diwali while supporting local entrepreneurs, independent sellers and artisans.
