A delegation from the Samajwadi Party visited the family of a 10-year-old girl in Gorakhpur on Sunday. The girl was reportedly raped and murdered, prompting the party’s visit to express their condolences and support. During their meeting, party representatives assured the family of their commitment to providing assistance during this difficult time.
The incident took place on the night of July 28. The accused, a constable, allegedly took the girl to a cremation ground around 15 km from the district hospital area, where he raped and later killed her, according to the police.
Police said the accused subsequently dumped the body in a river to destroy evidence.
SP Leaders Support Victim’s Family with Financial Aid
A delegation led by Brajesh Kumar Gautam, the SP district president, and Shabbir Qureshi, the city president, visited the family of a recent crime victim. They expressed condolences and gathered details about the incident. During the visit, they provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh on behalf of SP president Akhilesh Yadav.
The delegation reaffirmed the party’s commitment to supporting the victim’s family in their pursuit of justice. They promised ongoing assistance and indicated that efforts would be made to help a family member secure a government job if the party gains power in the upcoming state elections.
The family recounted the circumstances of the crime and called for severe penalties for the accused. The case has ignited widespread public outrage, prompting demands from political parties and civil society for swift justice for the victim and her family.
