Kanpur: A total of 458 students of Cooperative Estate Shiksha Sadan Junior High School in Udyog Nagar received free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, school bags, shoes, socks, undergarments and other educational material under the Seva Pakhwada programme organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Ramesh Awasthi, MP, and school committee chairman Ajay Kapoor , a former chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, distributed the material at the school at 46-B, Udyog Nagar. Vijay Kapoor said Cooperative Estate has been operating the school since 2003, providing children with free education, notebooks, textbooks, uniforms, sweaters, undergarments, shoes, socks, ties, belts and other essential educational material.
The programme began with a welcome song and Vande Mataram by students. Cooperative Estate chairman Vijay Kapoor and local entrepreneurs welcomed Awasthi with an angavastram, memento and bouquet. Efforts were also being made to provide students with free afternoon meals.

The school emphasizes that financial hardship should not hinder any child’s access to education.
